Our Vision

Building a better world.

We are excited to share big news with you for 2018. As we approach our 10-year anniversary, Pyatt Studio is thrilled to announce the launch of THE BUILDING COOPERATIVE, our new non-profit organization. The Building Cooperative will expand upon Pyatt Studio’s programs in education, job training, and affordable housing to help more people around the globe transition out of poverty—and stay out of poverty. Pyatt Studio, meanwhile, will continue to serve clients and community-based organizations as an innovative architecture & planning practice with a social mission.

2017 brought national recognition of Pyatt Studio’s work and impact. Our Climate Change Resilient Housing was selected as one of the 60 design projects to be featured in the By the People: Designing a Better America Exhibition  at Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum and received four Honorable Mention awards from the American Architecture Prize.

This acknowledgement confirmed what we’ve realized during our first decade of practice: this is the work that we love and we want to make an even greater impact with it. The Building Cooperative will offer robust social justice programs, including educational workshops, community- and workforce-development trainings, and affordable housing sweat equity projects. The same team of architects and designers who have created a legacy of grass-roots partnerships over the last ten years at Pyatt Studio will lead both entities.

We see an incredible opportunity to empower more communities, more organizations, and more people through collaborative architecture and design. We invite you to join the circle and build change with us. Follow Pyatt Studio and The Building Cooperative’s progress and learn more about upcoming projects by joining our email list today.
